| I would choose shady grove because of their lab. |
| We had a fantastic experience with SG Annandale. Loved Dr. Saffan and all the nurses. |
+1 Frankly their stats are the best. and they let me into their shared risk program (gw never got back to me on that.) I was vigilant, though, in advocating for myself and double checking my nurses work (had to correct her twice.) If I had needed more handholding I might do gw. recommend sibley/ widra at Sg but don't expect any cushioning, he's all business. |
| Someone above mentioned Columbia. How do they compare to gw and sg? |
| I agree with a previous poster about the crappy experience with Dr Greenhouse. |
You must have ax to grind for resurrecting an old post. To be fair, I thought Dr Greenhouse was great. We saw him at the Va location. We got pregnant on the first try. Prior to that we were unsuccessful at GW. A real pain in the a** going into the city 7am every morning for monitoring at GW. We had Dr Gindoff- who we thought was just a money grubber. |
|
I have a son from my first cycle ever at GW. Gindoff was awful and I didn't like Frankfuter either. I liked Dr. Lawani. I'm now at SG and just had a failed cycle. Was the experience perfect? Absolutely not. However, I would still pick SG over GW any day.

| I had a bad experience at SG. Their finance office in Rockville? (wow, I blocked it out, it was so bad) was a mess. I used to be on the phone with my insurance every day. My RE didn't listen to me and really wanted to treat everything with a "hammer" when I kept telling him a hammer would not work. I interviewed other REs after my endocrinologist put a stop to my cycle because of my thyroid. I decided on CFA. My RE there did additional testing, creating a protocol based on the testing, and I got pregnant with my first FET. I am planning to go back for another FET next year! I would say interview REs at all the clinics you are considering and go with who you are comfortable with. Also, I never had an issue with the CFA finance people in Bethesda. I hear their DC clinic is a mess! |
| Hard to compare stats because GWU is a non-profit research institution and takes harder cases. TBH, I think unless you have some very rare condition, your chances are not that difference between them because the labs are similar quality and protocols are standardized. That said, I think you will not find a better doctor than Dr. Frankfurter. He is smart and really cares. We met with many SG doctors, they were perfectly fine too, but we prefer the overall environment at GWU. You know you are getting the truth about your case and not something that will simply help their statistics. Dr. F. goes out of his way to really care for his patients, catching medical issues that other docs don't. GWU is not without its issues (especially with nurses and scheduling). |
| You can monitor downtown with SG; you only need to go to Rockville for IUIs, retrieval, and transfers. I felt like SG pushed us quickly to IVF, but then again IVF worked for us while everything else failed. We did a lot of advocacy for ourselves and called them multiple times to confirm protocol dates, get results promptly, and resolve insurance issues. Our doctor never called following negative pg tests, which they are supposed to do. We'll be going back to them despite these issues. I was under 35 with PCOS. |
| RUN FROM SHADY GROVE!!!! I worked with Shady Grove for over 2 years and during that time no one told me the I was CMV negative. After switching to GW, Dr Humm notified me of my status, but by then it was too late. I had already purchased sperm from a CMV positive donor. I had to pay to rectify their mistake. The doctors at GW are personable and knowledgeable. Unlike at Shady Grove, I didnt feel like I was just another number. Dr Kimberly Moon at Shady Grove in DC was the absolute worst. I found her cold, rude and condescending. Dr Osborn at Shady Grove at Sibley was kind and very helpful, but my previous experiences left such a bad taste in my mouth, I knew I needed to move on. I am currently at GW and will have my first IUI this wee. Hopefully all goes well. |

No experience with Shady Grove. Had a successful pregnancy from my forst IVF/FET with GW. I felt GW was very personable and in the know
All 3 REs cross check on your protocol with one another so I never felt one was clueless. If need be, I'm planning to go back for baby 2. |

I had a good experience at Shady Grove. They are organized but large and a bit of a machine. You're not going to have the intimacy of a small office but their lab is quite good.
The stats on the SART website are so much better at SG for 40+ than anywhere else in the area. You'll find a wide range of experiences on this board. but I got a positive at 41 after CCS testing. |
| GWU is amazing! Dr. Frankfurter and Dr. Lelwani are very attentive and thoughtful in their approach. I only felt the nurses were short staffed when my nurse was on vacation but my questions were always dealt with in a timely manner. The staff makes you feel like family and the office is well run and organized without making you feel like it is a factory atmosphere. |
Resurrecting an old thread but adding no value. Do you work at GWU? |
