Sadly, things like this happen all the time. I blame irresponsible parents for owning guns and if they just HAVE to have a gun, to fail to lock it up good with the ammunition locked in a separate location. This country has way too many gun nuts and people who love their guns. There will continue to be more senseless deaths as idiots continue to want their guns!

I'm tired of these stories. I don't feel awful if the child kills themselves or their parent or a sibling with their parents gun they found. I would only care if they killed some truly innocent bystander.

This is the most disgusting reply I have read in a long time. You don't feel sad for the child who died because the parents let a gun lay around? That is a terrible way of feeling. So the child wasn't a "truly innocent bystander"?! What else if not that? Wow. You should be ashamed of saying something so heartless and wrong. Nobody asked you to feel sorry for the parents. But saying you are tired of these stories and that you don't feel awful when a completely innocent child dies like this is just purely horrific.

It seems like once a week we hear about a young child shooting someone or getting outside in the middle of the night and freezing to death. It's so sad, children need supervision.
