I've read the book and I've been into BDSM. The book is poorly written in a few different ways. The wording is one way and the story is another. Safe words are set up before anything happens (I do think this was set up when Gray gives her the contract). The bottom usually wants to be there and asks for more. I could see how someone would be apprehensive at first, but this girl never seems to enjoy the control part. That is what makes it a bad example of BDSM. Although, I do like the idea of a story of what it's like to be in a BDSM relationship only because that is my sort of thing. The boycott is rather stupid. Who would go to a movie that they think they wouldn't like?
I agree with PP that suggested Secretary. |
His surname is actually "Grey," as the book was written by a British author who used the English spelling of gray. Also, the woman's name is spelled "Anastasia." |
| If I read one more time about the "hitch" in her throat I was going to open my epiglottis and led the vomit project forward. |
Yes, the spellings make a TON of difference. Yes, I can see now that the author is really deep. |
| WTF? Exactly how stupid are people these days? Movies depict all sorts of things that aren't recommended--serial killing, suicide, bank robbery, etc. Anyone who sees this movie and thinks it's a how-to is just an idiot. |
