Wilson High -- The New Normal?

I for one applaud the increase in adult oversight in the building. Kids of all ages need limits and need to understand that there are consequences. Making this type of even smail change makes a difference.

My child came home the other night from Wilson and said the whole Cahall thing blew over.

One last thing about DCPS transparency. I agree DCPS is rarely transparent, however, it is completely unrealistic to expect any employer to discuss a personnel decision. If they did they would be violating the employees privacy rights, and they could and likely would be sued. Blame a litigious society.

I hope that the AU Park muggers yesterday (48th and Brandywine at 430 pm), described as two males about 15-17, don't turn out to be Wilson students.

I was wondering what all the cop cars were about!

If DCPS was into cloning principals then absolutely nothing would have changed. Remember DCPS opted to not renew Cahill's contract so the "new" normal is probably welcomed. Just imagine if the choice was to rid students and keep administrators? Hall sweeps for a comprehensive high-school is normal occurrence.

I'd like to see some Wilson administrative staff patrolling the route to the Metro and present in the Tenleytown Station itself after school. Today I was in the station around 3.45 after school dismissal. I've seen rowdiness there before but today was more like mayhem. There were high school kids pushing and shoving in front of other passengers and still others forcing their way down the up escalator from the mezzanine to the platform as passengers tried to come up. About 20 had Dominos boxes down on the platform and several were eating pizza. When one passenger pointed out the no eating law, there was a volley of f-bombs back. There were three or four Metro cops in the station but they couldn't cover both the mezzanine and the platform well. The Metro station manager later told me that they try to have police deployed to coincide with the Wilson dismissal, but when they have ticketed or occasionally arrested students, Metro has gotten complaints from Wilson. What can be done about this situation? At least if there were an administrative staff person there along with the cops, they could identify the problem delinquents.

It means that once the bell rings, classroom doors close and the halls have to be cleared of students. Staff members "sweep" the hallways and send anyone who is out in the hall to an alternate location.

I'm headed to the open house Friday morning.

Is that like an undisclosed location? A rendition site maybe?
