Ha. I teach in DC and always check DCUM first.

My charter sent a One Call alert to parents at 11pm! Great job.

I shouldn't be finding out on a parent listserv that there's a delay well after 5:30am. Call it at 4:30am, and send out the emails, text alerts, news announcements and website updates AT THE SAME TIME: 5:00am.

Oh my goodness unclench. I bet the Chancellor's staff is having a good laugh at your email. They probably have a few people that are up and able to actually manage and execute the release of the information. So yeah, it's going to take them an hour or so to get it out on all the channels. As long as it's well before the start of school who cares? You want 10 people to get up so they can all synchronize watches and hit the button and dial the various news outlets/etc. at the exact same time?

The chancellor doesn't laugh.

Google "alertDC" and sign up for the alerts you want. You can specify email / text.

Or check dcps twitter page. I bookmarked it last night, so had the news when we woke up.

too high - I would say with 90% confidence that the chance of a 2 hour delay for DCPS in less than 10%.

How does it feel to be sooooo wrong?

Haven't we learned by now that any snow, or any chance of snow, means a 2 hour delay? You know, expect that first time when they could have actually used it.
