I'm surprised nobody has mentioned DCI as a plus for Stokes.

Stokes! I don't have direct experience with CMI but we started pk3 at Stokes this year and it is fantastic. To answer the pp above, our child's class has 18 kids (a mix of 3/4s) with two full-time teachers.

Jury is still out on if it's a plus.

A guaranteed path through high school is always a plus. And certainly the bugs will be be worked out in the seven years or so before OP sends her child to middle school.

OP, if commute is really a toss up, I would go for the at least possible high school option. Always better to have options when your kids get older.

On the other hand, I loved the program at Stokes and could support Spanish or French. If commute wasn't an issue, I'd definitely go with Stokes. Unfortunately, we are too far away from Stokes to be able to make it work, so commute is the reason we are not applying.

I got the same impression of CMI and Stokes. But I guess we're lucky (well, not that it matters until lottery time is over!), we live pretty close to Stokes.

I hope it works out for you! It would be our top choice if we could do the commute.

The principal at CMI is amazing. She started the school and is really involved with the kids.

+1

Another fan of the principal of CMI. She's such a warm and caring person - my daughter loves her.

Another CMI parent who finds Golnar to be warm. I think she is an introverted intellectual which can be misconstrued as cold or wonky. This couldn't be further from the truth.

Agree with the above. Would like to add its painful for us for those who know her - and how caring she is - to read such negative things about her on this forum.

Bet the impressions would be different if she were some blonde do-gooder. . .
