I would never "have a talk with him" about this. If he is gay, it's fine. I will wait for him to tell me, which may not be for many years.

I take a different approach. Rather than wait for my child to come speak with me, I always let my children know that they should feel free to talk with me regarding their sexuality. While they often groan and "Mom!" me, it's VERY important that they know that I will love and accept them, no matter what.
