| A few years ago, my two DS's had positive flu swabs. The pediatrician gave my DD, then about 3, prophylactic Tamiflu. For a week, she seemed to escape, then got the flu anyway.. I think it just prolonged the start. This year 3 of us got influenza A, DH, DD and me. My boys did not get it. There is hope you'll escape. |

Our insurance covers Tamiflu at almost 100%. The Urgent Care doctor gave me five prescriptions when my son tested positive a couple of years ago. I called our pediatrician before filling the scripts who flat out told me he advises against it in otherwise healthy children and would never give it to his children. Too many possible scary side effects.
I did some reading and research and threw away the prescriptions. At best it can shorter the duration of the flu fby a couple of days. It might make the symptoms less severe. I can cause all kinds of really bad neurological side affects. Just not worth the risk to me. My son recovered. Our other kids did get the flu. They recovered as well. I did not get sick despite being the primary care giver. My DH didn't get sick either. |

Is there a Target clinic near you? They prescribed me Tamiflu last year "just in case" when I had two kids dxed with flu there.
Good luck. |
