It would help to know what names you like, OP.

Some of my favorites that don't end in "a" -
Ellen
Claire
Anne
Maggie (nn for Margaret)
Grace
Natalie
Maureen
Corrine

Are you looking for shorter names (fewer syllables), or names that are more no-nonsense? Margaret and Catherine are longer but come across as pretty serious and less frilly than many names that are currently popular.

My favorite names that hit both:
Alice
Anne
Charlotte
Claire
Helen
Jane
Joan
Lucy
Mary
Rose

OP here- thanks for so many ideas!

We're looking for names that are not trendy (would put Eve and Lily in that category) or extremely popular (I'd put Katherine in this category)...

Keep them coming! Nothing is really hitting me yet (except the two names of my current daughters), but I really appreciate the suggestions!

Shorter names, for the most part. No-nonsense is okay but not really a goal. Thank you!!
