Is the parent tour an interview (even if you have not officially applied)?

Such an odd comment--are you trying to stir the pot?

A 4 year old DC is certainly not the one personally filling out the 10 point font two page application for Kindergarten or even selecting what schools to tour. The parents are.

'We' (the parents) are the ones applying on behalf of the child, and 'we' are the ones meeting with the administrators. 'We' are also the ones who are asked to take part in an interview where 'we' will discuss why the school is a good fit, and what hobbies our child has. .

Sounds like the only thing 'we' are not doing is a playdate and the WPPSI. Fair enough.

The process (in the younger years) is most definitely a 'we' not a 'he/she'

Thank you. At the very least, the statement "[4yo DC] is applying to Sidwell and Maret" sounds ludicrous. But around here, you're damned if you do, and damned if you don't.

I think it depends on the school and how the tour is conducted. At some schools, a student may give the tour (e.g., Holton), so I don't think of it as an interview. At some others, it will certainly feel like it is part of the interview, even though the official interview is conducted separately (a one-on-one tour conducted by a member of the Admissions team always feels this way to me).
