Responding to Email blunder (not mine)

Please believe me on this, NEVER annoy an admin or secretary. Let it go. Verbally ask a peer if you are suddenly unsure of the title.

It will make his life miserable and hence your life will be miserable. Print the email. Quietly ask your boss if you are using the wrong title on your emails.

1. It makes you look humble.
2. You told on the secretary without it looking like you told on the secretary. (Telling on the secretary make you a little bitch. BTW.)

Hahaha you must be a secretary.

I was recently promoted from VP to Director lol.

In some companies/industries (e.g. investment banking), a director is higher than a VP.

Oh hell no do not ignore this. She is obviously being a nasty B behind your back so nip it in the butt!

THAT being said...I would not cc my boss but reply and simply say "I am not sure the appropriate person received this email."

Then if you have a good relationship with your boss bring it up in person.

Am I the only person on here who wouldn't do anything? OP, just let it go. She'll probably notice when she doesn't get a response that she sent it to you and then you get to watch her squirm. Then just ask someone you're closer to at work about email titles.

FWIW, I have two email signatures that automatically populate my emails. I use one for external and one for internal. It's very easy to remember after signing and email to delete one. You could try that.

I still want to know why companies have separate titles.

It's a minor offense, but it is snarky and nasty of the secretary. It's good to know what kind of person she is I suppose.

Hi _______,
Presumably you meant to forward this, rather than send it to me? Just to clarify, although my internal title is Director, my external title is VP, and that's why it's included in my signature line. Glad I could provide some amusement for you, though!

Best,
OP

I would do this!

Maybe to the other secretaries. You sound like an idiot and a gossip. She does not need to humble herself before a secretary who was rude to her. All these old bitch secretaries need to learn that they can't disrespect people just because they're younger.
