Yes! Hello, Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Rodham is Hillary's own maiden name, not her mother's. If Hillary were named in this way, she would have been Hillary Howell Rodham.

I like the Clintons...I like Chelsea and I am happy for her....
But here is my prediction:

Hillary is not going to run. she wants to truly retire and enjoy being a grandparent. she is tired; she is getting older.

My other (snarky) prediction: this baby may not be so cute. Chelsea and her hubby are not models (esp. the husband)! Something seems a bit off with the husband - like maybe he has bipolar illness which never bodes well for a marriage.

And here is my other snarky remark - that last name Mezvinsky is a really ugly last name.

I wish she had just named the baby "charlotte anne clinton" and used her last name.

When people leave banks etc, they often have to take "garden leave" first - they've signed noncompete agreements and can't work for a specific period of time. So he was doing that once and the press jumped on him unfairly for being a slacker.

"On his own merits" now, that's hilarious! You don't think his success as a hedge fund manager had anything to do with his family's connections? Although, I can see why he would want to distance himself from his father, a criminal.

Hillary and Bill have also been accused of doing some very unethical things too.

Seriously criminals/their families do well at hedge funds -- you're not black listed. Also isn't/wasn't his mother a Senator or governor from Pa? He grew up a Washington insider, which means he can pretty much get into any hedge fund he wants; there are lots of them in NYC and most are indistinguishable and they do try to distinguish on the basis of famous people -- the fact that he's Chelsea's husband only helps him.

Apparently Bill doesn't like him -- in part bc he is all about money and nothing else but also kind of lazy (not just about the garden leave) -- and doesn't really speak to him and he feels like a third wheel in the Clinton family. I suspect that only grows now with a grandkid -- the Clintons have their daughter and grand-daughter to dote on and really don't need him.

Garden leave is fine but who goes without their newlywed bride!? He took off for months after they got married on a snowboarding trip while she was working in NYC. It's stuff like that that leaves a bad taste. I suspect he has more golf rounds and snowboarding trips in his future -- his inlaws will be involved with the kid and he may not want to be around all the time.

is it common to give your last name as a second name to a child?

I suppose the baby is not jewish as Chelsea has not converted

Yes, that's common. Where are you from that you don't know that?

Everyone that I know have a name that could also be a first name as a second name. This must be a new American custm. If you look at geneology, there is no great granny Agnes Jones Smith, Alexander Kardasian Hilton

Women do this to give their children their maiden name. Surely you can understand that. And it's been going on for a while. Also, family names in general are common as middle names. Both my kids have my maiden name as their middle name.

This isn't the woman that Chelsea Clinton is supposed to be, marrying a lazy, selfish man. Wonder if her mom putting up with her dad's shenanigans affected her so that she married a guy who puts her through similar crap.

Don't be mean. My husband and I do not look good on TV, but our son is ver handsome and photogenic.

I don't believe the whole -- girls marry their father -- thing. But I do think that parents set some kind of tone/example for expectations in a relationship. Hilary putting up with Bill's crap re Monica and apparently other transgressions before that has got to have given her the impression that guys will do what they want and the wife is considered "strong" if she accepts it. Honestly I think her last boyfriend Ian Klaus was a better match for her -- they dated for yrs and I believe he's also a Rhodes Scholar/Oxford PhD who is now with the State Department. Somehow that seems like a better fit for her than someone who is about money and nothing else.

Congratulations to Chelsea. That little girl will be doted on by the Clintons!

I doubt they care whether you think it's an ugly name. Btw, be careful with the snark. Someone may think your name isn't all that amongst other attributes.
