Did they really stage this million dollar home with IKEA furniture?

Agree with all this. Nice choices by the builders. Some not so good ones, but overall nice. I'm more interested in durable finishes that look nice rather than high end finishes for the sake of it at this stage in life.

House isn't bad but some of the tile is a bit much and those wood floors are awful!! Why would a new house have orange floors??

They would have been better off not putting any furniture in there at all. New Ikea furniture wouldn't be bad - this is garage sale stuff.

They could at least put a privacy fence up.

House poor perhaps?

I live in Bethesda and have small children. My house is $1M+ as are all the homes in this neighborhood and most of us have at least one ikea sofa if not entire rooms full of ikea furniture. Not bc we're house poor but bc it's just practical. And like PP said, a $1-1.5M home is an average 3-4 bedroom house. Not a palace worthy of custom furn...esp with toddlers.

No, dear.

But those don't look nice - they look like the same shitty builder-grade my friends out in the sticks have in their crappy new builds, too. Some of you will buy anything.

Folks, those oval-glass front doors -- out of place, anywhere.

You should have seen some of the shit we saw in bethesda for a million. Less than 2000 square feet, old appliances, moldy basements, small lots. In the flyover world you'd pay 150k for that....

As a byer, why would you care if the towel in the bathroom is from Target?

I disagree. This is nice renovation/house. I don't see poor quality finishes. Lets not forget this house is under $!M. If it were a $1.5M+ then maybe your point would have some merit.

This is also not really "staging". its just enough furniture to give the buyer's a better idea of the scale of the rooms.

If I were in the market in the Petworth area this would be on my list of homes to see. And no, I'm not the agent or the seller.

yeah but you said it directly after someone else took a dig at the finishes. You know it was mean-spirited and meant 100% as a dig against the furnishings and finishes. don't be a coward. you said it, own it.
