Wearing gloves on the plane

What is the point of the gloves? Say you touch something germy when you first sit down; then what? Will you have other gloves to change into? Unless you bring several pairs of gloves and switch them out every time you touch a potentially contaminated surface then you're just spreading germs around with your gloves. If I saw you doing this I wouldn't think you're crazy- just stupid.
