How does it compare to Connecticut College? Are they similar? Is the social vibe different? |
My D's best friend from HS attends, she is happy not the greatest area. But overall happy, its very preppy and she said the workload is manageable. I really doubt with all due respect Trinity has ANY serious Ivy rejects though..this is not even close to being in that league. She was a good student in HS but slightly above average. I know she did not get into Hamilton. Conn College, Amherst and I think Bowdoin, she decided on Trinity as she wanted a small good liberal arts school and she seems to be quite happy. |
Don't know much but do know their girls soccer team wont the NESCAC champs this year (my niece is on the team) and shes a stellar student and is very happy there. The CEO of AOL was on CNBC recently and was himself a graduate of Conn. College. |
Just curious where you got that info? MANY Ivy rejects? That is not a school I would think would have many at all. And who said the kids aren't happy? My Ds friends goes there and is really happy. I think that's a very general statement and frankly sounds a Little ridiculous to imply no kids are happy there. |
Is the area it is in worse than New Haven? |
No |
with all due respect, Connecticut college is ranked higher than U Conn and Trinity- you left one out! |
I think similar in that they are lots of preppy white rich kids predominately but conn college more prestigious for sure- |
I went to another NESCAC school but have always been a fan of Trinity. It seemed like the place where what used to be called "chronic underachievers" ended up - the smart kids who didn't care about school, with lousy GPAs but really good SATs. As a result, it was a college full of smart people who didn't care too much about academics and liked to have a good time. The campus is gorgeous, though the surrounding neighborhood is bad news.
Around town, I feel like I run into a lot more Trinity people being successful and/or in prominent positions that I do from Conn. College, or Bates, or Colby and have always chalked it up to their social skills. |
Rich, dumb, trust fund kids. |
Very ignorant comment on dumb is just utter ignorance |
I have very good friend whose son goes to Trinity. He'd probably agree that it's full of really rich trust fund kids, because it is. It's also nowhere near as well respected as any of the other schools mentioned on this thread, except maybe Connecticut College. It's ranked 45th in US News. Sure, the rankings are flawed, but that's a very low ranking for that kind of money. |
The most brilliant woman I know graduated from Trinity. She loved it there and seems to have gotten a good education. |
Waters of "Waters World" fame is an alum. Draw your own conclusion. |
Does Trinity have name recognition outside of the region? |
