Do you mean Blanche DuBois? |
No. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6zyOrgbB_Y |
Not a southerner, but lived in the South for 17 years - never heard this used in real life. |
Got it. I stand corrected. And I am so glad I didn't know that. |
Another girl from an old Southern family, and I know of no one going by Big Daddy. ![]() |
Southerner here, my sisters both married into Louisiana families. Only one uses that term. They are old rich money. I almost throw up a little every time I hear it. |
I have never in my life heard this where I grew up in rural southern Virginia. Everyone is "Papa" there. |
If you never watched the Golden Girls you have no idea what you are missing. |
I'm in the south, and I've never heard it. |
Grew up in NC, also lived in southern Alabama, never heard that used either. It may be regional?
I did have one friend who called her father deeddy (you have to get it right with the accent) and have heard that every once in while. |
+1! |
I call my DH big daddy. We're from buffalo and he had 3 legs. |
Sorry he HAS 3 legs. |
My colleague refers to her DH as "Big Daddy" which I find to be kinda odd. They're not Southern, not even close... they're from Wisconsin. |
southerners are so weird. |
