It's the sheer volume of one particular fruit that makes it an impulse for me. Last year, it was bags of cherries that we devoured on the way home from day camp each afternoon. I've bought on average $4-5 in pluots each day for roughly a week. Tonight, one DD ate pluots for dinner. We're addicted.

Here's how. "I'm running to the store doe toilet paper and chicken."

Walk in.

"Shit those berries look good."

Walk out having spent $45 on toilet paper, chicken, and berries you didn't know you wanted til you saw them.

Berries are a treat for us because they are so expensive.

Blueberries. I eat them by the handful. I can't stop.

Watermelon. Good cheeses: fresh mozzarella, goat cheese, cheddar...summer just calls for fruit and cheese.

And figs. I went to WF the other night, all I needed was one bottle of wine, and walked out with figs, goat cheese, a baguette, and blueberries and ate all of it for dinner.

It's not the fruit itself. It's the particular ones, which are often much pricier than the staples and don't even keep as long.

I usually only buy bananas, apples, oranges, and lemons when it's not summer.
