It's cross-eyed, but it is inbounds for Maury.

| MD is far from Alexandria. You are better off just moving to VA. Not sure what town given the budget versus school considerations. I am in pimmit hills and love it here - for $700K, I'm guessing you could buy a tear down for $425K and build a big new house for maybe $300K, maybe less (I dont know how much they cost). Or you could just buy a smaller house here and renov/add an addition. The schools are great here, even though the ratings just went from 9's to 7's due to the roll out of the computerized only standardized testing last year (I think certain of the immigrants are not very computer literate - it was a ridiculous undertaking IMO). |

Great pic, but expensive, no? |

Given that the lowest-ranked school OP mentioned in the burbs was Woodson, I really doubt anything in DCPS or charters is going to interest OP. |
Oh, I know. I just think life on the Hill is so ideal for someone who has to commute to the Navy Yard. And we've been happy with the schools. |
Brent should be fine. I'd understand a little bit of worry about the non-Brent ES options and certainly the non-Deal/Wilson MS/HS options in DCPS. my wife's a bit more of a school snob than I am though. |
| Frankly, the whole original post was kind of weird. She lists where she works, where her mother lives, and then lists a whole bunch of schools either way out of price range, nowhere near the mother, and/or a nightmare commute. So basically the OP has to decide what's more important, schools, being near the mother, or her commute. Posters have been helpful in suggesting things that might be helpful for a maximum of two of the three, but nothing really would fit all of her criteria. |
This is essentially a 2 bedroom-- the 3rd bedroom is in the basement, probably not appropriate for a 2 or 4 year old. The other one you posted was an as-is short sale, so depends on your comfort level with that. |
| 8:38 cracks me up! Why Bethesda and Potomac? EASY commute to DC! Probably only takes hubbie 30 min or so to zip down Clara Barton or something and get to DC. Also depends on what time he leaves in the morning. He would never have to deal with crossing a bridge and the traffic associated with it. Both are beautiful areas, excellent schools, lots of conveniences... etc! All the reasons so many people want to live there and why it's SO expensive! |
