Grieving the loss of a job and career

I am watching my field -- a branch of research science -- slowly decay. The customer is DoD, and every year there is more funding cuts. Every year, more of my friends are out of work. Me? I am hoping to hold on until my cancer kills me. I should be able to do this...

So they had a valid reason....probably an arrest or something. And yes, it might suck, but frankly, I think after things like Snowden, the Navy Yard shooter, etc, they should be more selective about security clearances.

If you have shown bad judgement, why should the US Gov't trust you?

Everyone has shown bad judgement, including you and tons of current government workers - many of them high level. You have no idea what the PP did but you already wrote her off. And many people who do make mistakes learn from them and don't amke them again.

Sorry OP, the same thing happened to a family member, and there was no bad act. They play all types of games with the polygraph and then claim it looks "funny." Impossible to disprove, and so frustrating when so many clowns (i.e. Snowden) have made it through in the past. The person I knew appealed but it is almost impossible to appeal when you are not currently employed.

My uncle, who is a psychiatrist, said that a lot of sociopaths actually pass the polygraphs to get into these TS govt positions because they are incapable of showing a physiological response to stress. If true, this is pretty frightening.

I go to work and my team has 7 Indians, 2 Americans (college hires) and 1 White American. No Hispanics, No African Americans, No Europeans.
