My DS had horrible eczema and we ended up also seeing an allergist. We were also prescribed a steroid (oil) to initially clear it up. Our allergist also recommended the bleach bath, but the oil cleared it up really well. That was about 8 months ago and since then we have kept it under control by slathering on the cerave cream in the morning and coconut oil in the evening. For us, the key is moisturizing 2x a day - any less and it starts flaring again. We also spot treat with cortizone cream - especially on his face. He easily flares if he ingests slight amounts of dairy (like 2 small spoonfuls of yogurt) but has always been fine nursing with me drinking/eating dairy (nursing now for 19 months). I did have to supplement only for a couple months and the only formula he could tolerate was elecare.
Long advice shortened - definitely see an allergist and make sure to moisturize several times a day. The aquephor was pretty useless for us, but the cerave and coconut oil combo has worked well after initial clearing up with steroid oil.
