Montgomery County Friendly Close-in Neighborhood w/ walkable school

Where can you walk from Kensington Parkwood? Maybe the portion near knowles is walkable to chipotle and Safeway, but it's not like Bethesda or DC. And if you are close to knowles, then you aren't close to the elementary school.
