Federal tax question - are we just in the spot that is really painful?

Seriously, DH and I are in a similar situation and it's very tough. We max out retirement contributions, have mortgage interest deductions, etc...but we still get slammed for taxes.

We're in a similar situation and I think our taxes are a bargain, considering the quality of life we enjoy.

Yes, I think people with incomes higher than ours should pay more in taxes, and don't approve of my money going to corporate welfare. But we've got food and shelter and medical care, and some day we will be able to retire.
