Ok, I made a youtube clip which will be erased immediately after somebody gets it. Please go easy on my horrible rendition:

Hopefully this will trigger a memory from one of you of what this song is called and who sings it!

Sounds like "Fooled around and fell in love"

Success! Loved this thread. Threads like this one are just one of the reasons I love DCUM.

Sorry for removing it, but it was just too motifying to leave for posterity. Man, that is one smooth song though, tell you what.

OP I wanted to hear your rendition so badly! But I'm glad you figured it out

You're welcome! It was your awesome version on you tube that helped me figure it out.

I love this song. OP, I would have loved to hear you sing it.

One of the best threads ever.

So glad I checked back to find out the song. I wasn't even close.

Elvin Bishop, BTW. Classic.

"I fooled around. I fooled around. Yes I did. I fooled around...."

Reminds me of summertime at the public pool. (As a 7th or 8th grader, checking out the tan HS girls in their crocheted bikinis.)

You were right about it being in movies, OP. "The song featured in the films Boogie Nights (1997), Invincible (2006), Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (2008) and Lovelace (2013)." I wonder if Mark Wahlburg likes it since it's in both Boogie Nights and Invincible.
