Ground floor apartment

Op, go for the ground floor so your kid can jump around and go outside easily. Otherwise your neighbors will complain.

Put wood sticks on the windows. Hard to describe, but the ledge where the lock is in the middle of the window? Cut a stick of wood at put it on top. That makes it hard to open.

I'm a single mom living on the ground floor of an apartment building. My son was 4 when we moved in and I don't think I would have moved in on the ground anywhere other than this place. It is really safe but it does get on my nerves I have to pull my blinds as soon as I get home. On the other hand my son isn't bothering anyone ballow.

Can you install ADT in a rental?

I would ask the landlord for permission. It only adds value to their property so I don't see why not. Make sure that the owner has the ability to deactivate the alarm, and the owner will want to be sure you are responsible for any false alarm fines from the police.

- single mom with ADT and also a landlord.
