We were new to DC 2 years ago and Palena was highly recommended so we tried it. Sorry but I think all the hand wringing about Palena's demise is just an indication of how low the standards are for restaurants here in DC. The portions at Palena were ridiculously small for the price, the food was bland, uninteresting and fell flat. In any City with a real and vibrant restaurant scene, Palena would have closed years ago. At the end of the day, the food just wasn't particularly good.

Who the hell is going to get dressed up, drop over 100 for a dinner for two and get on the METRO to go out to dinner in Cleveland Park? Seriously it IS Cleveland Park.

I took the bus. Red line sucks. But I can't say that I'm planning to return to Cleveland park anytime soon now that Palena is gone.

I should note that I also have mobility problems. I'm not saying mine are the same, but public transport accomodates many issues.
