But in high school I drove a yellow 1969 Plymouth Satellite.

It was faster than the speed of light.....

B-52s!

I drove a 93 honda civic until children. I love civics. Now drive 1999 jeep grand Cherokee. Under 100k mileage.
Congrats on your 2nd....I always wondered how effective those beetles was (as far as gas..if they had alotta problems with them & so on) but from the way you talking it gets the job done.
gas mileage not as great as you might think. On the highway, it is pretty decent, but who around here in their daily life isn't doing a lot of stop and start driving? But, with as little mileage as I put on my car, it hasn't been an issue. As for other issues, there were a couple warranty items that I have gotten fixed pretty easily, but it is aggravating that every little electrical thing that goes wrong costs $500+ - but, I would assume that is pretty common these days with every car being computerized.

Again, it has been a great little car that gets me from point A to B. We took it on a couple road trips, just me and my husband. When you can fold down the back seat, there is a large amount of cargo space. Definitely not a car you can use as an "only car" with a family, though.

It does make me feel like a rebel, though, out amongst the minivans and SUVs.

Love it. I learned how to drive in a 78 impala. It was 10 years old when I learned. Loved that car.
Yeah great cars..easy on maintenance ..good on gas (depending on if you swap the v8 small block for something bigger )
NP - in college I had an 85 impala with a 305 4bbl and tow hitch; best car I ever owned. Quick, tons of space, quiet as a tomb, and drove like you were riding on a cloud (really miss the classic American boulevard cruiser). Wish I'd never gotten rid of it

I live in CA where car is KING.

Anyone out here who doesn't own a car is considered a pauper.

Anyway, I drive a Mercury Cougar. 1999.

Most people in the city have a car. This is not NYC. Get off your horse now.

My husband drives a Ford Fusion Hybrid.

We live in the burbs and my husband commutes about 100 miles round trip per day (not to downtown DC, either).

My car is 12 years old and has less than 80K on it - I don't drive a lot as I have worked from home a good part of the last 5 years and used public transport as much as possible before that.

NP. Whoa. My friend doesn't have a car and lives in the city. They chose a community where they don't need one. Anytime she does on weekends, she gets a zip car or rental for road trips. Works for them.
