Neighbor always playing piano

Look into soud proofing your side, or you could do something equally annoying and bang on the wall all night while they are sleeping.

Other option call the cops on them, is there a noise ordinance that may apply here? Threaten a lawsuit? I saw someone on judge judy claim health issues from noise by a neighbor and they won.

This thread is weird to me. My teen plays the piano and my husband and I feel so lucky to have live music in our house. I think it would be such a treat to live in your house and have free concerts!

Really? So when you are watching a movie?
Or just after you got your baby to sleep?

You'll catch more flies with honey! If I were you, I'd probably start by seeing what I can do to soundproof my house. It is a win/win for you, as you DON'T know how long you'll have this neighbor, what kind of noise the next neighbors will make, and when you eventually sell this will be a selling point.

I listened to my neighbor verbally abuse his wife almost nightly for a year straight. Your pianist sounds like bliss. Soundproof or deal.

I listened to my neighbor have nightly fights with his young adult son. The day the son moved out added an extra 5 years to everyone's life in the neighborhood I think

I also lived next to a couple where the wife was verbally and physically abusive. Sometimes there would be crashes (her throwing things) and really loud thumps and bumps. We would always watch for the husband to leave for work so we knew he survived another day.

It has made me quite careful about what I say and do in my own home.

LOL. Tempting to bang on the wall, but that's mean spirited. This guy genuinely loves piano! I have to say I admire the passion.

OP, I would look into the sound proofing as others suggested. I just sold my row house and moved and one of the things that finally pushed me to do it was a new neighbor who smoked on his back steps which caused the odor to come into our home. I just was not able to deal with it.

A serious pianist won't want a digital piano, so this is a very poor strategy.

*in addition* to his regular Piano. He plays the regular one during reasonable hours and the digital one during problem hours.
