Don't get confused between what this poster is calling "ground bees" and digger bees or miner bees. The latter are NOT aggressive and only last for a couple of weeks in spring when it starts to get sunny. I have had them in my yard for years and no one has ever been stung. They are native pollinators and important to the environment. https://honeybeesuite.com/let-mining-bees-be/ Now if I had a little kid and they were living right next to say, the driveway, I'd probably exterminate. But if you can tolerate it for a couple of weeks a year, I hope you can leave them alone. To discourage them, avoid having bare soil in your yard. They prefer exposed soil and do not prefer thick grass. We have enough problems with our bees and pollinators; please don't exterminate bees unless you are SURE of what type they are and that they really are a threat. https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/mining-bees-lawns |
I know - who needs bees or any pollinators for that matter? They can all ‘settle’ somewhere else, like heaven, right? Jerk!! |
