This year my portion for a family of 4 for the PPO that my employer offered was $550 a month. Then the deductible was $1k and coinsurance 30 percent.
We switched to an HMO (Kaiser), with no deductible and minimal out of pocket costs. Employee portion of the premiums is now $250 a month. |
| Self employed, plan is $875/month for family of 4. $5200/year deductible which we hit about 1/2 way through the year. Coverage since then has been decent, some prescriptions are now free, not really sure what the coverage is on visits - maybe 75%? It means we are certainly front loaded on our health care expenses due to the high deductible but I calculated that we are still better off on an overall basis than with a higher payment/lower deductible. With the high deductible plan we were able to fund an HSA for $6,250 which is tax deductible. And our premiums are tax deductible since we are self employed. |
Same here. Obamacare for my family of three is $1,700/mo for BC/CS with a $2,000 deductible. |
Don't count on it. PP here who is paying $1,700 for my family of three on the exchange. The exchange's rates are age-based. If you're over 50, not to mention 60, the prices go up dramatically. |
| $100/month for family coverage Carefirst BlueChoice open access. No deductible. $20/primary care $30 specialist, $100 ER. |
| None. 100% employer-paid. |
