| Sadie is great. If you like the other names, that's fine, but you absolutely don't need a more formal name. IMO, that's an old-fashioned concept. |
| My daughter is just Sadie and no one has every asked what its short for. She does at times get called Mercedes (a name that I HATE), but she just politely corrects them. That all said, I like Sadie on its own! |

| I am the Sarah with the Sadie nickname. Most people know me as Sarah. The Sadie nickname is used mostly by close family or friends. I like it, but I'm not sure I'd want it on my university diplomas. |
| Mercedes makes me want her to have a twin brother named Benz. |
You do know that "Mercedes" is an actual name, don't you? It was around way before the car. |
| I'd name her Sarah because it increases her options when she's grown. I have a traditional nickname as a given name and really hate it. |

| Sarah -- I don't like nicknames as given names. Traditionally, Sadie is the nickname for Sarah. Why not give her the choice? |

Mercedes is trashy.
Just name her Sadie. |
| I have wondered this too. Sarah or Sadie. Under no circumstances would I name my child Mercedes. |
Trashy in your world, but to many it is the name of the mother of Christ. Hardly trashy. |

Sadie?
She used to be the homeboy's lady. |
