This is the Parents' Coalition's basic principle: Everything that MCPS does is wrong. Now, since MCPS does do things that are wrong, the Parents' Coalition's position is sometimes correct. But since they also think that the things MCPS does right are wrong, why bother paying attention to them? |
Right. Why bother paying attention to anything unless you are 100% in agreement all the time? Now there is a growth mindset. |
No, please re-read. Or, if not, here's a summary: The Parents' Coalition position is that everything MCPS does is wrong, by definition, because MCPS did it. Therefore, whatever MCPS does (right or wrong), I already know what the Parents' Coalition's position is going to be. Therefore, following them is a waste of my time. |
This is true. Janus is purposely contrary. In fact, I often wonder if she suffers from opposittional defiance disorder. not shitting you |

Every time on this thread I have raised a valid discussion point, you and others have moved the topic rather than directly argue with me. The bottom line is that you are part of a tribe that hates the PC and there is nothing they can do right no matter what I write. I really can't respect you because you can't seem to read information and draw your own conclusions. You are a lemming.
Right now, we are at a point where your entire argument is that you won't listen to PC because it is always anti-MCPS. Why bother? They have oppositional defiance disorder, afterall. That is your whole point. Seriously? You can think how you want, but you don't sound like very enlightened people. I have seen the Washington Post pick up their stories and I have seen the Gazette pick up their stories. They use the Maryland Information Act and look to other public sources to post real documents, so you can read them and judge issues for yourself. They are doing real reporting that you don't see in the Post or other newspapers. As I type this, I see posts on their blog that 1) present the MCPS school closing announcement for tomorrow without comment 2) link to Kojo Show about the snow day affect without comment 3) Some links about a Gates Foundation Grant on Peer Teaching that wonders what this grant is about 4) link to an outside blog post about how the new elementary grading system is pushing mediocrity (something a lot of parents on DCUM have also said) 5) list of legal fees for the MCPS Rock Terrace case in which MCPS is alleged to have stolen wages from a student-work program. You really don't have any arguments... "batshit crazy", "contrary", "oppositional disorder"...are not arguments. As one of you likes to say "Good lord!" |
| OK, so you read the Parents' Coalition blog, then. Good for you. And I won't. Good for me. |
Let me reword from above to see if this is familiar: The bottom line is that you are part of a tribe that hates MCPS and there is nothing they can do right no matter what anyone writes. I really can't respect you because you can't seem to read information and accept that others may disagree with your own conclusions. |
The tribe that hates MCPS is the Parents' Coalition, but whatever. So you really can't respect me. Ok, that's fine. |

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. I'm not really in this discussion and know very little (or nothing) about the PC. However, I've learned that once a group has gathered to voice their concerns, there is value in listening to what they have to say. It might not be possible to make them happy with everything but I'm sure they started because of a valid concern. Is this about ego or about helping our kids?? If we write off concerns that are expressed by someone we don't like, we are more focused on ourselves than our kids. Please focus on the overall goal and forget about whether or not you like the person who helps you get there. If you don't like the PC, form your own group. If you are sitting back and accepting MCPS, then don't complain at all and let the people who want change focus without anyone getting in the way. If you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem. |
Yea -- right . I don't have time to sift thru crazy |
I totally agree. They are crazy. I don't read their stuff and I won't. You know why? Because all they do is criticize the school system. Your probably asking why I have these opinions since i don't read them? The answer is that I rely on a few postings listed here in DC Urban Mom. I think this is the best place to get a representative sample of their work. Now you are also wondering why I think they are crazy. It's obvious. Can't you see? If you can't see that, then you are crazy too. Anyone who always raises issues about MCPS is crazy. Why would I like a site that points out pending bills that allow 22 yr old coaches to have sex with 16 yr old high school students? The MCPS BOE liked this bill, so the PC should just keep quiet and not be so critical too. This is an election year too. These crazy people even raised an issue with the school system for stealing payroll money from student work-study programs and pointed out how the system stonewalled these students. How dare they do that? They also reported on a law suit that former teachers made against a principal who locked kids in closets and intimidated teachers, yet still has his job. The law suit was settled out of court and the details on how much our tax dollars were spent on this case are unavailable, so the crazy people should just keep that story under wraps too. The school system should not be criticized. They have lots more factual evidence of issues that all say bad things about MCPS. I hate that kind of parents group. It is crazy to criticize our public officials. We should trust them more. |
BINGO! BINGO! BINGO! You have officially won the award for DUMBEST ASS DUMB ASS response I have read all year. I do not need nor rely upon some nutball with an ax to grind, or DCUM to provide me with real, objective, and truthful information, especially my child's school system with which I have personal experience. I can read the paper, I can watch the news, I can read the bills on line, proposed bills, I can go to PTA meetings, go to BOE meetings and any other number of pro-active things that don't involve having my information vetted by a lunatic! |
You're spending a lot of time impugning the motives of people who disagree with you. The Parents' Coalition blog does that too. |
| You all raised the batshit crazy description. I am trying to get you to explain it. I haven't heard one coherent explanation. |
We explained. You just didn't like the explanations. |
