Marriott International HQ/Bethesda - anyone work there?

Anonymous
I know someone who's worked there for a while now, and likes it.

Director salaries are probably $100+. The senior director scale will be separate.

I worked for Hilton and I paid $39 at any Hilton branded property, $29 at Hampton Inn, $39 at Embassy Suites, $79 at Homewood Suites, and I had discounts for the Waldorf Astoria. I'm glad to be going back.

Friend has moved around the country with Marriott for years, liked Bethesda but has moved elsewhere. She is very happy w/the company and is in middle management, probably not director level yet but doing well.

Friend worked there, but left. Said it was very conservative (and she's pretty conservative herself!). Pretty buttoned down. She was mid-level; women had to wear suits and pantyhose year-round, even in the summer. No such thing as casual Fridays. You always had to project a certain image. But discounts and certain perks were good.

Have looked off and on for the last couple of years but this is the first listing that really intrigues me and feels like a true match. Would appreciate any insight into Marriott as an employer and the Bethesda HQ specifically. Thanks!

They pay below market salaries, beware.

I 2nd that. I worked there as a temp right out of college...just needed a job. It was DRY and SO an old boys club. That is they way it is up there in MOCO with that company.

Then people always emailed...but that is they way of the world so I didn't mind that so much. I would still work there now...but with so much red tape...I don't know if I would be good fit!

I have several female friends who have worked there - one currently. Overall, good benefits, mediocre pay, good opportunities to move around within the company.
