Circumcision in the DC area

Anonymous
OP -- I agree with a PP that whether the majority is doing it or not shouldn't be a main factor... but if it is, you really need to compare apples to apples. The question you might be asking is not what percentage of boys in the DC area are circumsized, but what percentage of Jewish boys? (Seeing as you are Jewish I mean...) I think an uncircumcized boy would be in the definite minority among Jewish boys, right?

Good point.

and as far as the pain issue is concerned, my DS was circumcised at 2 days old. He was gone for less than 10 minutes and was completely calm when he was returned to me. Ask your doctor what kind of anesthetic they use.

Did they use topical anethetic? It takes close to an hour for it to actually numb the skin.

With my first child we used a mohel who was also a pediatric surgeon (Dr. Louis Marmon). He injected anesthetic so it was instantaneous. So the actual circumcision was pain free BUT the injections were painful. If we have another boy someday we will use a regular mohel- even though Dr. Marmon was great, I think that the anesthetic wasn't worth it.
