Did SWS not work out for your child?

Anonymous
I think PP is right - there is a lot of work in all grades to foster community and kindness and we have really appreciated the way in which they implement the responsive classroom. And though it is child directed (as in the project(s) are born out of children's interests), that does not mean that children are on their own doing their own thing. Instead, the teachers are observing and documenting the student's interests and from there an idea for a project may emerge. I think the whole process helps to foster critical thinking and creative thinking - things that we value greatly. I have tremendous confidence in the teachers, principal and the parent community. It has been interesting to see this approach mesh with common core, but I think they are finding a way to do it.
