| I have the Grady kind and a few times my ear would get blocked. I got to the GP, and she has a nurse clean my ear with water and a bit of scraping. At home I use deborox every other month. I think any doctor will have the nurse do it for you if you ask. Although you might get charged for a full visit. |

I'm the one who goes to the ENT every 12-18 months to prevent a build up. I didn't have a problem until my 40s, Go figure. And the last time I went there was hardly anything to clear out so maybe it was a just a passing phase. But as far as issues to deal with, it's pretty benign. |

When I was a child, my mom used to bathe me and lather me with soap - including the back and the inner area of my ear with her fingers - and splash copious amounts of water directly aimed at my ears to rinse it out. Invariably there would be water in my ears and I had to jump up and down with my head tilted towards the floor to shake the water out. My ears have always been clean as a whistle.
My kids have very dry earwax (we are Asians) and I actually scoop it out with a long bobby-pin type of doohickey because when the pediatrician tried to remove it she actually managed to hurt my child. The one good outcome of that episode was that every once in a while my kids will lie down and let me shine a torch in their ears and fish out the earwax. |

| My work friend with hearing aids gets her ears cleaned every 2 months. She loves it. It kinda makes me want to see an ENT. |
