Honors classes vs regular classes in high schools

Anonymous
At our W we were told that honors classes are about 35% more work than regular. Most kids take honors/AP but some are in regular. In classes like physics it's pretty common to take regular even if you've taken mostly honors everything else.

At ours you can take AP NSL in 9th, which is usually followed by AP US in 10th. Those are the main APs kids take before 11th grade although some take AP calc in 10th, and some take AP languages in 10th. I think about 60-70 kids were on the AP history track in 9th.

Usually the top colleges -either universities or SLACs. At our school there is a lot of overlap between the AP track students and the NMSF/Commended scholar group. And as a pp pointed out the kids taking APs in 9th grade are mostly getting 5s and 4s on the AP test.

Not even an option at my non-W but West County school..can't decide if I am envious or sort of glad my 9th grader will wait a year to worry about AP scores.
