But scoring 80-90% doesn't mean that he/she scored 80-90% higher than other Fairfax County second graders? That sounds like a bright kid to me, since average according to the explanation attached to the scores is 50%. And Fairfax scores vs. National scores (which are both listed on the scores my child received) are not 30% different. The Faifax percentages are only like 3 or 4% higher. |
Nope. There is an almost 10% point difference if your kid is in the mid-90s for Fairfax county. 95% for national scores=86% for Fairfax County on my kid's score sheet. So if that kid is between 80-90% for Fairfax County, he is in the low to mid 90% range nationally. |
| My take is that the Hispanic poster above is not low income, so her kid is getting services proportionate to test results and nothing extra. |
Hmmm, then I don't know how to read the scores? I just fetched my son's scores. Lets do nonverval: age 98, Fairfax 95, national 96 His local composite is 4 off from the national score. |
Is your kid young for the grade? |
Yes, I think the second youngest in the class. |
|
Okay.
My kid is on the low end of the middle-Christmas baby. 95 age, 86 local, 96 national. Huge spread between fairfax county and the age and national percentages. |

Would honestly like to see the percent of kids prepped (ie with Mercer books or classes) in FFx County vs nationally. I'm sure there are many other pockets like ours, but what percentage? |
