Pop music at school

At least his teachers seem to have some sense of what's appropriate for ES; the aftercare providers seem to have NO idea. When he came home saying the song that includes a line "$20 in my pocket" was the favorite of all the aftercare counselors and asked if we could get it, I gave it a listen and was appalled!
I absolutely suggest asking the teacher how/where these songs are showing up, and letting him/her know you are concerned. If no one ever speaks up, they'll think its just fine.

FYI - The song is about being cool while thrifting. He does mention an article of clothing smelling like urine, but other than that, it's not about much more. What's your concern about the guy saying he wanted to pop tags - buy new clothes and remove the tags - with a "small" amount of money.

I'm guessing the poster looked up the song and heard the uncensored version which drops a lot of swear words. But i highly doubt they were playing that version at the aftercare. They probably were playing the radio edit.

It really doesn't bother me. At my daughter's daycare they play popular music in the afternoons and the kids dance. We probably listen to more explicit music at home, as my parents did before me, and I agree with the pps who said that young kids just don't notice/understand those lyrics. When they do understand, we'll talk about it.

When I was in sixth grade I was listening to Robert Plant sing "Squeeze my lemon 'til the juice runs down my leg." I still listen to it today

They're going to learn about sex outside of your supervision period. It's bloody everywhere in this culture. It's really hard to hide it from them.
