Best knock-off American Girl doll?

I wish I hadn't got DD an AG doll. She then turned into the AG inquisitor and took delight in telling other kids their doll wasn't a genuine AG in a pitying tone. It definitely became a thing for her.

Not my best parenting move.

Do you live in Arlington, by any chance? You can check one out from the library.

Wow. Generally I'm not in favor of corporal punishment, but she needs a whuppin'.

Madame Alexander is awesome. We have one, and I think it's prettier than the AG dolls.

We got the Madame Alexander and another one (can't remember the brand now) off eBay. They were used but in great condition. Very happy with both.

eBay also has AG dolls, but my experience has been that they are very high in demand and that the price skyrockets immediately with more and more bids. You can give it a try, but you aren't likely to save a whole lot this way and might end up wasting a lot of time. But I'd recommend eBay for Madame Alexander dolls (make sure it's an 18" doll).

Wow, thanks for the info. A rare moment of real learning on DCUM and a totally inspirational idea!

Check out Dollie and Me dolls. Very nice with matching outfits for child and doll.

Ahhh, yes. Peer pressure. Definitely a reason to do something.

It's better to say 'no doll' or 'save Xmas money' to buy a doll then get the knockoff that will be apparent to friends.

Esp for girls, you dd will pine for the other 'doll' kids but be an outsider, better to redirect her to something you can fully participate (like sports?).

But yes doll is $90 more than your target doll, but I bet you spend that much every month on data for your Family plan.

You need to leave your little economic bubble occasionally.

If my DD did that, I'd explain to her why that was rude & tell her that every time I found out she said something like that, she'd lose her own AG doll for a month. And then follow through.

This person is cracking me up! Surely someone this shallow should make better use of her time insulting people in real life instead of on an anonymous forum. Save your energy, honey, you have the whole world to bring down to your level. Go on! Get out of here! Spread your valued opinions to the real world!!

The Toys R Us ones are really cute. I think the Target ones are cute too. I wish I'd bought mine a knockoff - it really just sits on its little (knockoff) bed in its little (knockoff) fur shrug all the time. Not sure my kid would have noticed the difference between a $30 doll and a $100 doll.
