Madame Alexander is sold at trendy toy stores like kinderhaus in clarendon, so should be ok at least for a while. when the kid is old enough to care, they are old enough to work jobs, save up birthday money, and pay for the doll themselves. |
That is just nasty. Troll. |
The AG dolls actually are much more durable than the knock offs. You do get something for all the money you pay. |
the clothes for the target doll we got do not fit the AG dolls. is that a recent change? or is it certain styles? i think somoeone told me AG dolls hands are molded differently from each other (and differently from other dolls) so that one hand is slightly bigger maybe and makes the other clothes hard to interchange. |
I bought one at Joann's with a 40% coupon--replaced it after 2 years with a new one once the hair went bad... we remarked how it was a miracle how the hair was so smooth. think it cost me 12$ each time. |
I second the Journey Girls doll at Toys R Us. They accessories are adorable as well! |
I agree that you'd be better getting a used AG doll. Your DD may not know the difference now, but before you know it, her peers will. |
+1 |
Ahhh, yes. Peer pressure. Definitely a reason to do something. |
Gasp, horror! |
They're actually $115 and you know what they say... you get what you pay for... |
I am actually sorry I bought my DD the genuine American Girl Dolls. She has Target dolls and two AG dolls (Bitty Twins) and guess which ones she decided to give a haircut to! I wish I had saved my money. Lesson learned. Do not feel guilty getting a knock off. DD loves the Target ones just as well and probably better now that the AG dolls have butchered haircuts! |
My DD couldn't tell the difference between AG and the Target OG dolls until age 9. |
I went with a Journey doll years ago, and it's fine, but the eyes don't open and close. It's much slimmer than an AG doll, so AG clothes hang off her.
The Target ones are much nicer now than when I was shopping 4 years ago. I'd go with one of those. |
Nasty and stupid! |
