| I show up for work at 10am. ...but that's probably not the type of advice you're looking for. |

First day of school today and I'm hoping the rest of the year went as smoothly as it did today. DD packs soup in her lunch so half goes in the thermos and the other half she eats for breakfast. DS eats cowboy eggs for breakfast (slice of toast with a hole that an egg is fried in) and a sandwich for lunch. Sandwich is made the night before and tossed in the lunchbox in the AM.
DS is almost 9 but he still prefers for me to pick out his clothes and DD picks hers out the night before. I had already posted about our waking 30 minutes before we get out the door. I make breakfast as they dress, brush hair and teeth, and I get dressed while they are eating. If we get up earlier then the kids have an opportunity to fight with each other and they doddle so I don't give them too much extra time. |
that's gross. |
What's gross about it? They get a bath, clean comfy clothes and bam! We're dressed for next day. We wake up in the morning, eat, brush teeth, comb hair and leave. Out the door in 30 minutes. Sorry, again, what's gross about it? |
| Sleep on your next day clothes every night. See how fresh and clean you look and feel all day. |
You'd be surprised how much you sweat in your sleep. |
| As soon as DS gets out of bed he puts on his clothes and brushes his teeth. As soon as he comes downstairs he eats breakfast. If he has spare time he can watch tv or play. Then it's out the door. |
They are children. They do not have mature sweat glands like an adult. Use some common sense. |
Pp quoted above. I did it for several years. I worked as a teacher in a far away district and commuted for 1,5hours every day. We were supposed to wear uniforms. I had to arrive at 6:50am at the school. It saved me precious 10 minutes of sleep. We don't sweat at night. And in winter they go to school with pjs as the bottom layer. Sorry to gross you out. I hope we didn't ruin your day
|
Don't you walk around the house in pjs on the weekends? Gross? Really?? |
NOT! |
| reward success. We keep a sticker chart in the car. Whoever makes it to the car on time, WITH what they need, and WITHOUT need of parental parenting gets a sticker. 10 stickers gets you a small prize. We are not sticker people. We are not that organized. But this has worked. The part that drove my DH and I to the brink was the constant yelling "we're late" or "hurry" to no avail..I mean our kids have NO sense of urgency...we realized quickly this was having zero positive effect, and just stressing us out...so we set up this system. It has been a total game changer. TOTAL game changer..I have not raised my voice in months (during school time mornings) |
