About to lose my job - cancel vacation?

Anonymous
I would cancel the trip. If it makes you feel better, I started looking for a job on May 10 in a new city. I got an immediate response and went all the way through the third interview in mid June, and found out I didn't get it. I didn't look again until July 29. I got one interview from the first batch of resumes I sent out, and decided the position wouldn't work with my life. I applied to another batch on August 9, got an immediate call, and had my interview there Monday. I was hired on the spot and start September 6. I was super bummed and worried in May (looming layoff ahead). I'm amazed and very happy with the turn of events. I hope you'll have similar luck!

We had planned a lake vacation the week I was laid off years back. We were able to get a refund for the hotel. We drove to the lake and stayed 3 or 4 days when friends camping at the state park got us a campsite for under $20/night. They also had a small boat and invited us to go out with them on the lake, which was great since we had canceled our plans to rent a boat, the only ones left to rent were $$.

Anyway, well worth it. I do not care for camping anymore but I sucked it up and never complained about stumbling down the trail to the bathroom at 2am LOL, my kids had a blast - they didn't care about hotel vs tent - and it was very cheap.
