Book author recommendation for a 7yr old

11:59 The Hobbit has a recommended age of 12. Harry Potter's recommendation is 9 and up. These may even be just on content and not even for reading ability. I know the child OP is talking about is advanced, but I just wanted to get across that many children going into 2nd grade are not reading the Hobbit or Harry Potter yet and are doing great in school.

I meant My Father's Dragon, Beverly Cleary, Chocolate Touch, Who Was/Who Is biography series..there were many that were mentioned that have a reading level at 8.
