All the time. Roasting veggies, making oven "fries", quesedillas, melting cheese on anything...
Mine is a cuisinart, so not super cheap, but worth the price for the amount I use it. |
| We have a 'space saver' one that we had installed under our cabinets last summer when our condo kitchen was redone. It has a "protector" sheath for the cabinets and the heat. We use it daily. We use it for toast, bagels, roasted veggies, fish sticks, pizza, potatoes, sweet potatoes, really anything. Our kitchen is small and if I don't need to turn on the main oven, especially in this heat, I'm a happy camper. |

1. Can you bake a marinated chicken breast in a toaster oven? If so, how?
2. Would you please provide the directions for making a baked potato in a toaster oven? Thank you. Love, Somebody who can't cook for shit. |
| everything. We rarely use our oven. |
1. 20 minutes on 350. cut in center. If pink, 10 more minutes (breasts come in very different sizes) 2. preheat to 350 or 400. wash. leave wet. wrap in aluminum foil (add a little butter inside wrapper if you are not anti-butter). Roast for 1 hour. works for sweets too and it's hard to OVER cook these...under very possible. |
We have this too. Thumbs up. |
Thank you. How do you contain the mess of the marinade? Does the tray have raised edges or something? |
| I cannot live without my toaster oven. I use it daily to toast bread, heat frozen food, bake and broil anything that will fit (including vegetable, chicken, fish, lamb, & shrimp). So, I cannot think of a kitcehn without a toaster oven. |
| We bought a Breville Smart Oven during our kitchen renovation and I love it! It is expensive but it takes so much less time than preheating the bigger oven. I can do a lot of the quicker weeknight toddler meals in here. Some things that work great--mini pizzas, baked potatoes, chicken and fish nuggets, heat variety of trader joes meals, roast vegetables. I love our regular oven as well but it doesn't always make sense to use it for such small items. |
Most toaster ovens come with a baking sheet with raised edges (aka jelly roll pan). You can also buy them. DH puts some things right on the rack, but I hate doing that. |
I would wrap up the breast in foil if it's skinless/boneless. Otherwise it will dry out. Also use a meat thermometer instead of relying on the color. I cook chicken breast up to 165. (190 if questionable source) |
| OP- the real question is why dont you have a microwave? |
| My cousin makes marinated steaks and garlic bread it's always delicious. |

My husband tends to work late, so if we have a meal that requires cooking in the oven, I set aside a portion for him and cookit in the toaster oven when he gets home. This is especially the case in the summer when it's hot and I don't want to turn the oven on again.
I also like it for reheating one slice of pizza or other items that come out crisp and delicious in the toaster oven but gross and soggy in the microwave. |
Never seen a need for one. They don't seem very useful for cooking, and when I want to warm something up I usually use the stove. Also space is at a premium. Nonetheless I think I'm sold on the Breville. Thanks for all the feedback! |
