Kensington heights

I just looked it up on Google Maps street view. The sign is at the turn off to Drumm Avenue from University. Across the street is the Wheaton Animal Hospital, and the next turn up University is for the Westfield Wheaton Mall.

The addresses for the actual houses in question are Kensington, 20895.

Who the hell cares what the address says? The houses are zoned for Wheaton schools and are next to the Wheaton Mall. You can call it Beverly Hills, but it won't change those facts.

You certainly do have your panties in a twist about this. We're more relaxed about these things in Kensington Heights (as I'm sure they are in Wheaton, too).

No twist. I just find it really funny that someone so relaxed and laidback is insistent that her house next door to the Wheaton Mall is in Kensington. Why do you need to try so hard to separate yourself from Wheaton?

Oooookay. The area of Potomac along Falls Road near Rockville is still Potomac. The area of Bethesda along River Road near the District is still Bethesda. I live a block away from Chevy Chase in Kensington. Does that mean I live in Chevy Chase - no! Same thing for Kensington Heights. The difference is the zip code- 20895 for Kensington Heights, 20902 for the Wheaton Mall.

I'm so relaxed that that was my first post on this thread. I've so enjoyed your growing hysteria that I just had to post.

NP here. Why do you care so much? It appears to me that you don't live in Kensington nor Wheaton so your input on this thread is pretty useless.

We've heard great things about The WJ cluster, but it seems like houses in that area are out of our price range (up to $500k). We've been looking now at the Kensington heights area and I'd like to know what people have to say about the neighborhood, we're looking for a friendly neighborhood and of course, good schools. Some people have told me that KH is basically Wheaton. Any advice?

NP here. OP pretty much asked whether KH was "basically Wheaton," which of course it is (not there's anything wrong with that). Either one KH resident posting several times or several KH residents were all, "OMG! It's not Wheaton!!!!" and then get upset when someone points out the obvious-- that it's basically Wheaton, zip code or no.

It's a matter of semantics among other things. If the poster in KH tells someone s/he lives in Wheaton it will confuse the other person in the conversation. Why? Because nobody calls it that. They call it KH. Who the hell cares? I'm not sure Wheaton residents go to the same schools (Einstein, etc.). And so what if they did. I have never heard that area called Wheaton.

Having been back in the KH neighborhood, it certainly doesn't feel like Wheaton. And the mailing address is generally Kensington rather that Silver Spring. But whatever. I'm guessing that since the PP with their panties in a twist was relying on Google street view that they've never actually been there....

Right, she probably just guessed that there was a sign that said Kensington Heights right next to the Wheaton Mall.

Regardless, I live in north kensington and love the neighborhood. For the poster looking to buy, email me at kellydzendzel @yahoo.com for pics of a great house about to go on the market.

OP here. This has been an interesting thread. Those of you with first hand knowledge of the KH side next to Wheaton. Can you comment on the feel of the neighborhood? Community sense? Kids? And general safety? We saw. House we like but would like to know more. Thanks
