Daughter picked ugly prom dress...should I buy?

+1 Sorry OP. Her dress is cute and appropriate.

I hate shiny, royal blue dresses. I like your daughter's dress better than your pics though. However, I am not a fan of any of them.

Team OP's daughter. Let her have her dress. It's not about you and your opinions.

OP here.

FYI: I posted *my* dress to show color, not style.

OP, I hate to add on but I do agree that your daughter's choice is more appropriate AND prettier! The color is in style and the cut is flattering. I hope she has a great time!

FWIW I think the daughter's choice of dress is classier than the mother's choice. OP, your daughter has good taste (maybe she got it from her father?).

Please see post#10:53 before the snark. Thanks.

Um OP please refer to YOUR post where you posted the picture and said this was an example of the color you wanted and something "less cheesy." I assume you meant the dress style.

I have a feeling you are the type of mom that would hate anything your DD picks out because it was not your choice

OP, the dress is pretty. You have to let them make their own choices by this age. If you don't like the price, make her contribute. But as long as the dress is not indecent, I think the choice is hers.

No, I meant the color and lack of "shine" to the dress. The royal blue looks shiny and sort of cheap (100% poly), versus the other where the color is muted and non-shiny but maybe it will appear different in person.

Not really sure why you want to argue.

I like the daughter's choice. OP your colors look like mother of the bride dresses. Let your DD have the dress she picked.

I'm the pp who set a total prom budget and DD paid the difference from money she earned babysitting.

She selected a dress made of cheap fabric that looked like budget lingerie. We all survived.

$175

Those folks make the dresses (in China). Bad reviews from companies like these. While the savings sound good, not worth the headache.
