When i told a co-worker she said "OH My GAWD, we are all so relieved b/c you had gained so much weight, we were worried something was wrong with you."

Friend commented, when I told her: "oh that's wonderful. And don't worry if you lose it - you're young and would have no problem getting pregnant again!"

Another comment was from a yoga instructor at my gym. I approached her early in my pregnancy and told her I was pregnant and did she have any advice or modifications to suggest. The first thing she asked me was :"did you conceive naturally or Ivf?"
What difference would that make and why is it her business? Are certain yoga poses dependent on conception which is natural vs Ivf!!

"How did it happen?"

Both questions from my boss upon telling him that I was pregnant.

"You just don't say no do you?" referring to my husband's advances.

"I guess I shouldn't sit too close to you!"

"Is this how you get Summer's off?"

Also got "was it planned?" From my boss. Which I just don't get. I was in my mid thirties, married, with a 2 year old. It's not like I was a teen mom, or having Irish twins or anything (which still wouldn't have made that an acceptable response, but anyway). I want to offer a block of training at our New Supervisors course in basic human interaction, in which I cover the fact that when an employee tells you she is pregnant, the only appropriate initial response is "Congratulations!"

"Wow you two sure are fertile!"

and "You just keep popping them out!" in front of older and younger relatives.
