When i told a co-worker she said "OH My GAWD, we are all so relieved b/c you had gained so much weight, we were worried something was wrong with you." |
Friend commented, when I told her: "oh that's wonderful. And don't worry if you lose it - you're young and would have no problem getting pregnant again!"
Another comment was from a yoga instructor at my gym. I approached her early in my pregnancy and told her I was pregnant and did she have any advice or modifications to suggest. The first thing she asked me was :"did you conceive naturally or Ivf?" What difference would that make and why is it her business? Are certain yoga poses dependent on conception which is natural vs Ivf!! |
I hope your boss wis male and you named him as the father. Jackass. |
"You just don't say no do you?" referring to my husband's advances.
"I guess I shouldn't sit too close to you!" "Is this how you get Summer's off?" |
Also got "was it planned?" From my boss. Which I just don't get. I was in my mid thirties, married, with a 2 year old. It's not like I was a teen mom, or having Irish twins or anything (which still wouldn't have made that an acceptable response, but anyway). I want to offer a block of training at our New Supervisors course in basic human interaction, in which I cover the fact that when an employee tells you she is pregnant, the only appropriate initial response is "Congratulations!" |
"Wow you two sure are fertile!"
and "You just keep popping them out!" in front of older and younger relatives. |
