The afterschool test prep course at University Park Elementary School. Call the school in the Fall to ask about it. I know other kids who went to Innovative Test Prep in Largo and got in to S/T at ERHS.

I'm the PP from 2013. My kids attended Holy Trinity Episcopal Day School in Glenn Dale from K-8 and thrived.

I'm still a huge Roosevelt booster. My youngest is now a junior and doing well with five (!) AP classes. She's been accepted into the competitive internship program for her senior year. I'm happy to answer any questions or provide additional information if you like.

OP here. DD is now a junior at ERHS. Glad we picked ERHS! DD attended Holy Trinity Episcopal School from pre-k to 8th grade. The transition from private school was seamless. Roosevelt is a diverse school and it seems easy for every child to find his or her niche. DD has started her own club at the school and she is thriving. The S/T program has a lot to offer and even the most academically gifted child can be challenged. DD is taking all Honors classes and AP's. There is a lot of school spirit and all the kids I know that came from private school love ERHS. The opportunities offered to the S/T students by NASA, NIH, UMD and others are phenomenal. For the most part the teachers at ERHS have been fantastic! There have been one or two that left a little to be desired, but that's no different than any other school. If your child passes the test and gets into ERHS S/T, I recommend that you compare the curriculum, the price, free transportation and the travel distance and ERHS S/T will be hard to beat. To top it off, ERHS S/T has a great college acceptance record that includes many acceptances to Ivies and other top colleges as the program is well known by college admissions officers. We are pleased with ERHS and if we had to do it all over again, we would make the same choice!

Thank you for the update, OP! This is really great to hear. Would love to continue to hear more stories like this and highlight the good that Prince George's has to offer our children!

This is a great post! My DC was recently accepted and will go to Roosevelt next year. I considered putting her in private for high school but after reading this and similar posts about Roosevelt, I know we made the right decision. Thanks to all for the affirmation. Like the poster did from 2013 and a few other posters, I will periodically update to let all know how it’s going so that I can be helpful to parents who are considering Roosevelt.
