How about Salem MA? Something that will still be fun but also a little wierd and tacky (which is what most teen/tweens are anyways). Keep a few days free for Boston.

PP here- I just wanted to mention that I did bring my 13, 11, and 6 year old to Orlando this fall and they did enjoy themselves- probably more that they thought thwy would .
That said, we were there becaue my DH had a conference at the Universal property, so lodging was taken care of as well as a discount to the parks. Whenever we started feeling 'meh' we left and hung out at the pool. Had I invested a huge amount of money in this, I probably would have been a little disappointed. |

I think I'm going to have the same problem with my 7 year old in a few years. I went to Sesame Place in Langhorn PA, a place she's always loved and the last time she didn't want to do the drive because she thought Sesame Place was for babies.
|
Well, she's right. Sesame Place is best for children between 2-6. A good barometer is if they still enjoy watching the show on TV. If not, it's safe to say they're past liking the amusement park. On the other hand, she's at the perfect age to introduce her to DisneyWorld! They still find it all "real" and they get a full dose of the magic. |
| We are looking forward to our trip to Disney. Guidebook says teens are very "cool" about going until they get there! False blase. I am so looking forward to my teens having a chance to show some independence at Disney. We will have a great time, I think. (I am pretty laid back -- if they don't want to stay a long time in the parks -- fine with me!) |
That's true. They play the role until they're there and then they get caught up in the magic. This will vary if you have true "roller coaster warriors" in your group. And if that's the case, bribe then with a side day trip to Busch Gardens and/or Universal. I hope you have a great time! Our last trip was in December and I'm already ready to go back.

Me too! And I never even offered to kids to go there, because me and my husband wouldn't survive 30 minutes there!.. |
|
OP here. We decided not to go .... no one was that psyched about it.
Instead, we will save our money and I will take kids on trips later in the year. Older one goes to Paris with my mom and me, younger one to NYC for a Broadway weekend. And we are all going to the beach in August. I'm happy! |
| Disney's water parks are awesome! |
Too bad. I say don't knock it til you try it. But have fun on the trips you have planned! And there's always Disney in Paris!

I am glad to hear that! Orlando is one place where I made a lot of reservations. We can always cancel them (shows, restaurants etc) The Dcs like roller coasters and I love a great stage set. |
