...which Dr. G?

I had 11 measurable follicles yesterday, looking at ER on Friday and this thread is helping me get over the "OMG I won't have 20 eggs!" fear

I posted the failed cycle buddy thread so we are in sync it seems (though, my ER will not be Friday! ... my follicles were 10-13mm yesterday and estrogen only in the 300s). Anyway, my RE moved quickly when counting but I think it was about 11 and he seemed happy. In fact, that has been our goal. I am not sure why 20 would be the goal given OHSS and general discomfort that would come with 20 mature follicles?

wanting more eggs isn't a rational desire, I totally know - it's quality vs quantity. But in my head, I'm thinking that since my husband has such poor sperm morphology, the mor eggs I have the more chances for fertilization I have.

It doesn't make sense because it could still be a failure with that many eggs. It's just one of those irrational IFV things.

Oh, well, the MF issue might make it quite rational. Regardless, your numbers sound fine and I hope Friday goes really really well.

Thanks I'm sure it'll be fine and this thread is definitely a little helper, even if the OP didn't intend for it to help others

I only had 8 that they were measuring up until the very end and I kept thinking I was going to be canceled because they were not around the same size. Somehow I ended up with 22 eggs, 1 blast transferred and 3 frozen. I think what happened to me is pretty common so you're in great shape.

I had 7 too, only 6 were mature and only 3 fertilized (with ICSI).
We implanted all 3. I am now 16 weeks pregnant with 1 baby boy! (after 5 years of dealing with one BFN after another).

Good luck to you!

Had my ER today, only 5 mature....sigh....

Which, for a supposedly healthy 31 year old is pretty crappy

Jin -keep your chin up! I am the pp poster (with 6 mature). It just takes one...I was disappointed that I didnt have any leftover for later (as I am AMA). But I did finally get pregnant after years of BFNs on that cycle. It just takes 1! We ended up going with a 3-day transfer (because we only had 3 at the 3day point) and I was OK with twins iif that was what we ended up with. There seemed to be no sense in waiting for the 5-day since the egg/embryos would do better inside me. Something worked...and it will work for you, too! Good luck sweetie...stickie vibes!

Thanks!

As of now, I feel the 'it only takes one' call comes from people who are already successful, or haven't been here. Though I know it isn't true, but that's how I feel today. I do appreciate it, just Debbie downer today

I also know the odds with 3 day v 5 day.....stupid Internet!!

I'm sorry you are disappointed, Jin. But, you are still in the game and that matters at this point.

Did you RE say how many he or she was going for? It might have been a choice to get fewer high quality this time around. If you have to (and I hope you don't) try again they may be more aggressive with stims.

^^ this is what they said,if they have to do it again. I love GW, but they said today, "we tell everyone to prepare for three cycles". Now there is a great advertising slogan! GW IVF, where you might need three cycles! Lol

Think they also need their protocol to include a pre-cycle meeting with the RE so they tell you their expectations. I don't think any woman enjoys being a guinea pig and then be told they probably could have been more aggressive. But, they don't know and I guess they are soooo scared of OHSS, so there is a fine line. My body did what it was supposed to do with the meds given and no better or no less.

You are all a great support, and I hope my posts like the OPs post help educate others.

Now, back to sleep

Retrieved 7, 6 fertilized, implanted 2, now my 2 1/2 year old DD + 1 froz embryo that we will be transferring in a few weeks. I was 35. How did it turn out?

I had 18 eggs retrieved, 15 mature, only 8 fertilized and 7 of those were considered normal, by day 3 we have 4 embryos that are viable...we had to freeze all 4 as i had OHSS...so doing a FET in 2 weeks time...we have 2 of 7 cells, 1 of 8 cells and a morula...I was shocked only 50% fertilized with ICSI, on the low level of acceptable fertilization rate....I was certain I would have more that would reach blast stage, I am 37, FSH is 5:3, AMH: 6.6m no PCOS....
